7th Tackle: JT on the fly . . . again

Ten flights, 16 days, almost 10,000km. That’s the Origin II equation for Queensland talisman Johnathan Thurston.

On top of his return from a shoulder injury, Thurston has been forced to carry the load of a ridiculous travel itinerary that will send him to Townsville, Darwin, Brisbane, Mackay, Gold Coast and Sydney in the space of a fortnight.

MORE 7TH TACKLE:

Thurston is also making a non-football trip to Sydney today to film an advertisement for personal sponsor, Rexona.

To make matters worse the shoot is taking place at Penrith’s Pepper Stadium – a 90-minute drive from the airport.

Thurston will then hop back on a plane tomorrow night to be back with the Maroons for their first serious training session at Sanctuary Cove.

Three days later he’ll be back in Sydney, preparing to help the Maroons square the series.

But the reward for all the travel is a deserved one.

Thurston’s next club game for the Cowboys will be his 300th NRL appearance - on home soil in Townsville against the Panthers.
