7th Tackle: Why Semi is back in the spotlight

It appears certain that Semi Radradra will learn his fate over domestic violence charges next week.

The second day of his trial is scheduled for Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday.

Radradra’s barrister is halfway through his cross-examination of ex-partner Perina Ting, who claims the Eels star punched her in the face during a dispute in November 2014.

It’s estimated her testimony will take another hour.

Up to four more witnesses could then be called to give evidence, including Radrardra’s Fijian pastor, whom Ting claims was told about the alleged assault.

Radradra has pleaded not guilty and a decision won’t be made on whether he’ll give evidence until the prosecution case is complete.

A full day’s hearing should be enough to hear all the evidence, before the magistrate gives his verdict.

That could take a day or two, meaning Radradra should have clarity on his position for the rest of the season by late in the week.

The second installment of the case is obviously a concern for Parramatta’s coaching staff leading into tomorrow night’s clash against North Queensland, which could possibly be Radradra’s last NRL outing.

After the case was adjourned for three months in February, they noticed a huge weight lifted off his broad shoulders.
