Australia's likely lineup for Anzac Test revealed

The Kangaroos team for the Anzac Test is officially named on Wednesday, but 7News can reveal the team Mal Meninga is expected to go with.

Meninga is expected to remain very loyal to the team that won last year's Four Nations final.

The only changes will be injury enforced, with Will Chambers replacing Greg Inglis in the centres and David Klemmer pushing up from the bench to replace front rower Matt Scott.

Darius Boyd will retain his fullback spot, with Billy Slater failing to force his way into the 17.

Johnathan Thurston and Josh Papalii will both be named despite battling recent injuries.

Thurston was named by the Cowboys for Friday night's NRL clash with Parramatta - albeit as 18th man.

Cowboys coach Paul Green said Thurston had begun running but had not yet featured in a Cowboys training session since his injury return.

"JT is a determined bloke, but it's not about how determined he is. It's about how fit he is," Green said of the likelihood of a Thurston comeback.

"He needs to convince us that he is fully fit before we consider him."

Cronulla star James Maloney is on standby for Thurston, with Meninga tipped to keep Cowboys half Michael Morgan on the interchange bench.

Andrew Fifita is expected to once again be overlooked, despite Meninga saying he was back in contention after previously being left out because of the NRL integrity unit's investigation into off-field issues last year.

"It's not my choice he missed the Four Nations. He's paid his penance and paid his dues. The integrity unit has finished off whatever they needed to and he's in the clear now," Meninga said.
