7th Tackle: Could Benji bounce back for Tigers?

A huge question that’s been overlooked amid the Wests Tigers circus: who will the club throw into five eighth should Mitchell Moses be granted a release to Parramatta next week?

Could there be a sentimental saviour? None other than Benji Marshall?

The former Tigers talisman has been cooling his heels on the outer in Brisbane for much of the year, managing just 13 minutes at NRL level thus far.

The veteran will be sidelined with a fractured wrist for another three weeks, robbing him of a chance to replace Ben Hunt in the Broncos’ halves.

The Tigers spoke to Marshall late last year about returning to the club – and given they’ll have room to move under the cap, we’d be surprised if his management doesn’t re-open that dialogue very soon.

Given Marshall has spent limited time of the field, the Broncos would not deny him the opportunity of a first grade starting spot elsewhere, let alone his old club.

It would be the perfect entré to the 32-year-old’s desired post-footy career in coaching.
