7th Tackle: Storm's touching gesture for grief-stricken Kimmorley

The Melbourne Storm is still shy of 20 years old, but already the club has developed perhaps the tightest bond among its alumni.

That will be on display again on Thursday afternoon when former players and officials travel to Sydney to support Brett Kimmorley at his wife's funeral.

Aged just 38, Sharnie Kimmorley passed away last Thursday morning, following a year-long battle with brain cancer.

His former Storm teammates Robbie Kearns, Tony Martin, Anthony Quinn, Ben Anderson and Matt Geyer will all be at Woronora Cemetery for the service.

There's also a wonderful effort being raised by the club Kimmorley coaches in the Illawarra Coal League - Wests Devils.

All his part-time players are attempting to get the day off work to head to the funeral by bus. Wests are also committed to supporting Kimmorley financially - and intend to speak to him about a fund-raising event in the coming weeks.
