7th Tackle: Moses in control at the Tigers

The most intriguing story at Wests Tigers surrounds the player agent who controls the club’s four off contract stars – James Tedesco, Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses and Aaron Woods.

Isaac Moses’s stranglehold on the club has since tightened further this week, when another of his clients – Andrew Webster – was appointed interim coach after the sacking of Jason Taylor.

At his first press conference yesterday, Webster revealed that he’d known Moses for years and credited the manager for his support over that time.

Who knows what role Moses played in gaining Webster an unexpected shot on Broadway?

He certainly would’ve had the backing of Brooks and Mitchell Moses, who were part of his premiership-winning SG Ball team in 2012.

It now appears Webster’s audition will last a month or two while the Tigers go though ‘the process’ of appointing the club’s fourth head coach in five years. That’s enough time for him to make an impression.

Moses was one of three managers banned for a year in 2012, following an investigation into the Melbourne Storm salary cap scandal.

And despite the fact his name wasn’t raised when detectives seized files from several Sydney agents late last year in relation to the more recent Parramatta cap rorts, it has since been mentioned as part of that investigation.

Moses might have the inside running at Wests, but he’s on the outer with as many as three Sydney clubs.

The Roosters are extremely reluctant to deal with him after a string of disputes last year.

And that hasn’t done Tedesco any favours to boost his asking price, with the Chooks on the hunt for a new fullback in 2018.
