Meninga reveals horrible racial discrimination

World All Stars coach Mal Meninga has opened up on the racial discrimination he received when he was a young athlete.

While the World and Indigenous All Stars team spend the week spreading the message of inclusiveness, and celebrating Indigenous culture, Meninga revealed he had a far different experience as a youngster.

Speaking exclusively to Seven News, Meninga said he couldn't travel with rep sides he made because officials didn't think he would be billeted out to families.

"I always wondered why I didn't (go any further) because I was breaking records and all this sort of stuff and never went on to further representation," he said.

However Meninga says now rugby league and the NRL are leaders with the way they celebrate Indigenous culture.
