Titans rookie suffers gruesome injury on debut

Gold Coast youngster Karl Lawton's NRL debut lasted just 46 minutes after he suffered a sickening leg injury against the New Zealand Warriors.

The 20-year-old took a hit up early in the second half when he was brought down in an awkward two-man tackle.

The playmaker let out an anguished scream as his leg got twisted the wrong way, with teammates and opposition players immediately calling to the sideline for help.

He was stretched off the field on a medicab, with initial reports suggesting he suffered a broken leg and will be out for the remainder of the season.
