Kieran Foran ruled out for 2016 season

Kieran Foran has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2016 season, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The troubled playmaker was reportedly told on Tuesday morning that he would require major surgery on his shoulder after copping a knock during his side's tight win over the Knights on Monday night.

It's yet another nail in the coffin for the Eels this season, after their salary cap drama, the departure of key stars and the Corey Norman drug allegations.

Foran had recently returned from a stint in rehab after the breakdown of his relationship with his long-term partner and struggled with a hamstring injury in the early rounds.

Adding further pain for Eels fans, Foran's halves replacement Brad Takairangi will be sidelined for four weeks with a hamstring strain.
