Auva’a's act of sportsmanship backfires almost immediately

Who says nice guys finish last? Well in this case Kirisome Auva'a might want to rethink his on field manners.

With the Dragons leading 6-4 midway through the first half against Souths, Auva'a chased an Adam Reynolds' kick into the in-goal area and after the ball went dead he stopped to kindly help Dragons winger Jason Nightingale to his feet.

The Dragons showed no mercy for his kindness as they swiftly took the 20 metre tap and spread the ball wide down the left, the same space Auva'a would have occupied had he raced back to join his teammates. Before he could get back, Tim Lafai had bolted 70 metres to extend the Dragons lead, seizing on the opportunity.

Auva'a had the last laugh as the Bunnies went on to claim a 34-24 win, but I bet that's the last time he's nice to an opponent.

The Dragons swift thinking was not lost on those watching at home.
