Barnstorming prop scores runaway try minus a boot

Everyone loves a runaway try, even more so when it is a hulking prop. Add to it that he’s minus a boot for 50m of it and you have a highlight to be shown around the world.

Ben Manu is a huge human, playing his rugby league trade for the Upper Hutt Tigers in the Wellington Rugby League competition.

He may be huge but he is quick too and has footwork the envy of most centres.

So when he took the ball on his own 40m line against the St George Dragons for a regulation hit up it might not have been all that surprising to those that knew him what happened next.

But unless you keep a close eye on Upper Hutt you might have been amazed to see what happened next.

The human wrecking ball left a trail of Dragons players in his dust as he stormed up the middle, palmed off insects, put in some fancy footwork before losing a shoe, then running over the top of the poor fullback and streaking away for a great four-pointer.

His team may have lost the match but this is the highlight the game will be remembered for.
