Anthony Milford wants to play for Samoa

Broncos star Anthony Milford says he wants to play for Samoa after being banned from this year's Origin series and told he won't be picked for Australia's ANZAC Test.

Milford told 7News that he wants to make the move, only if will not affect his eligibility to play for Queensland in 2017.

The 21-year-old is a role model for Pacific Islander kids and this opportunity would allow him to honour his heritage and continue to be an example for kids in the community, something he says he isn't taking lightly.

"Obviously with the ban I can't play any rep footy this year so look there's a chance that I could play," he said

"But in saying that I don't wanna hurt my chances of playing in a green and gold jersey or preferably the Maroons jersey next year."

JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG: Bennett sings Milford's praises

The livewire playmaker has left plenty around the league salivating at his potential, even Broncos coach Wayne Bennet admits his talent is like few we've seen before.

"The stuff he has, that is God given - no coach can teach that," he said.

"That's picked up with his mates playing in the backyard. He's pretty much a free spirit.

"You don't want to interfere with that.

"He's got the smarts. You don't want to give him too many instructions."
