Darius Boyd's wife "trolled" for leaving baby at home

The wife of NRL star Darius Boyd has been forced to defend her decision to watch her husband play the Grand Final and leave her newborn baby with a relative.

Kayla Boyd was branded a “horrible mother” as she was “trolled” on social media for throwing her daughter “to the side” to support the Brisbane Bronco, just 11 days after giving birth.

She posted on Instagram saying she felt 'disappointed' that she had to justify her recent two outings, including the clash against the North Queensland Cowboys.

“I have been made aware of people internet trolling about my life,” she wrote.

“For the people who have commented negatively on my life as a new mother, you have no right and if it bothers you that much, simply unfollow my social media page.”

The dress designer says she was shocked so many women had criticized leaving her baby at home with her mother while she travelled to Sydney for the match.

Mrs Boyd said her husband, who checked himself into a rehab clinic to treat depression and anxiety just over a year ago, had avoided social media because of trolls.

They have both been careful about what they release to the public since the birth of their daughter around two weeks ago.

“I see how instant bullying does actually affect a person. It affects me,” she told the Courier Mail.

“I like to think I have thick skin but when you're commenting about parenting, it's a very personal topic.”
