Dear Nathan.

I know it's none of my business and you've lost more in small change down the back of your couch than I'll ever earn, but just what the hell is going on in the Tinkler empire?

The Australian Taxation Office tells us you owe them $2.7 million and they want to wind up the Jets and Knights as part of the collateral damage.

You know what the ATO is like, mate, when it comes to paying them back.

They're like an old girlfriend who won't accept it's over.

Just ask Hoges.

Apparently this little tax bill was just an oversight that you never knew existed until it was brought to your attention on Thursday.

Don't worry Tinks, if I can call you that, we all get overdue bill reminders.

Vodafone send me one every month, especially if I've been giving the downloads an extra beating.

It's easy to forget you owe someone $2.7m. Slipped the memory and all that.

But, mate, people in the Hunter are nervous.

Really nervous.

They rarely hear from you but your lackeys keep insisting all is good and the money is there.

If that's the case how come you had to offload the private jet and helicopter and ditch the luxurious private box at ANZ Stadium?

And tell us again how many nags have you had to sell from Patinack Farm?

Maybe it was just the slow ones.

Day after day we hear from the Knights and Jets and FFA and NRL, all of them telling us things are rock solid and your finances aren't shrinking quicker than your waistline.

But how come we never hear directly from you?

Why don't you just come out of hiding in Singapore and put the record straight once and for all?

If you are going through hard times, why not just come out and say it?

Even if it means bad news for sports fans in the Hunter.

They love you for now, Nathan, and still believe in you.

But if you've been holding out on them and this whole shebang goes up in smoke, I'd suggest you look into making that move to Singapore a permanent one.
