LeBron James is watching highlights in quarantine: Kobe Bryant, MJ, KD ... and himself

LeBron James is dealing with a 14-day quarantine during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic just like many around the world, and as with others he’s struggling in certain ways to adapt.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar took to Instagram live late on Thursday to address fans and answer questions about basketball, the Lakers and the team’s status. And to share what he’s watching while live sports and weekly TV shows are on hiatus.

“I miss playing ball,” he said, per Mark Medina of USA Today. “I miss doing what I do. I miss being in front of Laker faithful. I miss being in front of the opposing fans when I’m on the road. We were at a point in the season where we were hitting our stride and gearing up for the playoffs.”

The entire group has been under a required 14-day quarantine after the Brooklyn Nets announced four in their organization tested positive for the coronavirus. The Nets and Lakers played their final game the night before the league went quiet, and players from teams around the country have since tested positive.

With play suspended, the Lakers sit atop the Western Conference at 49-14. They’d clinched a playoff berth and won 11 of their last 13 before the abrupt stop of play. Commissioner Adam Silver said the league won’t re-start until health officials give the OK.

As for what he’s doing in the meantime, James has shared video from his home of his family working out and also shared mediation videos to get people through the change in routine. He’s also been watching highlights of Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, Shaquille O’Neal, Ken Griffey Jr, and yes, himself.

The three-time NBA champion gave an update to fans on Wednesday night as well, lamenting the fact he can’t even go see his barber while in quarantine.

"When they advise you to be quarantined for 14 days and isolated from nobody — can't even get a haircut from my barber, they want me to stay away from him," James said. "I'm looking like Tom Hanks off 'Castaway.' ... The struggle is real in the James household right now. ... We gotta do what we gotta do."

California is now under a mandatory stay-at-home order through Sunday, April 19. While we all wish we could see him on the court instead, maybe we’ll get more insight from the four-time NBA MVP in the interim.
