Lakers will unveil 2019-20 championship banner in front of fans May 12

Los Angeles Lakers fans will finally get to celebrate the team's 2019-20 NBA championship in person. The Lakers will hoist the 2019-20 championship banner May 12, the team announced Thursday.

The team tweeted out the news to tease the banner reveal.

The Lakers did not provide any other details regarding the banner, leaving fans to wonder what the latest championship will look like.

Lakers will have fans at banner reveal

The news comes shortly after the Lakers were approved to host fans at Staples Center. On Friday, the team announced fans could return to Staples Center as part of updated health and safety protocols in California. The team is aiming to host fans at the its next home game, which is scheduled for April 15. The Lakers have not revealed how many fans will be allowed at that contest, saying the team will finalize its plans after consulting with LA County Public Health.

That should open the door for fans to attend the banner reveal May 12. After missing out on an in-person celebration due to COVID-19, Lakers fans will finally get their moment.
