Kyrie Irving fed up with free agency rumours in viral rant

Kyrie Irving has been the subject of intense discussion since the trade deadline, and the Boston Celtics star seems to be running out of patience.

Footage of Irving talking to Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant at the All-Star Game has been pored over relentlessly by NBA fans.

Speculation is rife that the duo, who are both free agents at the end of the season, will team up for the New York Knicks.

The Knicks are the only team in the NBA with the salary cap room to sign two players of Irving and Durant’s calibre.

Irving snapped at a journalist who asked him about said speculation, with the footage posted to Twitter by Boston Globe reporter Gary Washburn.

“I don’t have a private life when I’m out there in the NBA,” he said.

“Somebody wants to take a video and, I mean, it is what it is.

This is the stuff that just doesn’t make the league fun.

Nobody helps promote the league even more by doing bulls*** like that, of just fictitious putting things on what we’re talking about.

It’s just, it’s crazy. I guess that’s what you wanted, huh?”

Irving’s free agency has been at the centre of speculation that there are chemistry issues in the Celtics’ locker room.

Though the reporter gave Irving a chance to quell the Knicks rumours, the point guard was incensed.

“It’s my life, right? It’s two people talking, having a conversation,” he said.

So it’s a video of me and one of my best friends talking, and then it turns out to be a dissection of a free-agency meeting?

Come on man. You do it for the likes and clicks. Everybody does. Everybody wants to hear me talk like this.

Everybody wants to hear an athlete talk about bulls*** like this.”

The Celtics are among the best teams in the Eastern Conference, but many believe they have failed to live up to the lofty expectations many had for the at the start of the season.
