Bidvest Wits midfielder Kobamelo Kodisang found it hard watching his teammates from the sidelines while nursing a knee injury.

“Being in the stands it’s hard because you feel bad when the team is losing. I felt like I should go and help my team win, but at the end of the day there’s nothing I can do,” Kodisang told IOL.

The 18-year-old was out of action from October after sustaining a knee injury in training that saw him miss their Telkom Knockout triumph in KwaMashu last December.

As far as their league campaign is concerned, Kodisang’s absence culminated in the Students dropping 23 out of a probable 33 points.

“Now I just have to push myself to get back and not think about the injury. I am not 100 percent fit but I’ll try to work harder to get back to my full fitness level. I’ll push on the side and do some extra training so that I am fully fit again,” Kodisang said.

He played 60 minutes for the club’s reserve team in a 2-1 loss at home to Orlando Pirates over the weekend.

His absence saw the club refresh their squad, releasing Bokang Thlone and Steven Pienaar. They signed Lehlohonolo Majoro, Edwin Gyimah, Denis Weidlich and Thobani Mncwango.

The former Platinum Stars youngster believes these new additions will boost the confidence in the squad.

“The arrival of the new players in the team, makes us think positive because we believe that they can give us something. From their former respective clubs, they have been doing well. I think they will boost our confidence going forward," he added.

“For instance, with Majoro, he’s been doing well, so it’s just a matter of time before he scores those important goals,” Kodisang concluded.

Meanwhile, the club has managed to secure the early release of Thobani Mncwango from Polokwane City, with the Limpopo side confirming the move on Thursday.
