Klemmer accepts one-game ban for hit

David Klemmer will miss Canterbury's NRL clash with Brisbane after he accepted a one-match ban for a dangerous contact charge.

Klemmer received the sanction for a late hit on former Bulldogs teammate Moses Mbye in the Bulldogs' shock 16-4 win over the Wests Tigers on Friday night.

Had he challenged the charge and been unsuccessful at the judiciary he would have risked missing a second match due to carryover points and loading for prior offences.

The Bulldogs are locked in a battle to avoid the NRL's wooden spoon with five rounds to play.

They are two points ahead of last-placed Parramatta and sit above Manly and North Queensland courtesy of a superior for-and-against record.
