Portglenone overcome semi-final curse

In the Antrim SFC, Portglenone got over their semi-final hoodoo as they booked their place in the final with a 1-17 to 0-9 win against Lamh Dhearg in Cargin on Saturday.

Having exited the competition at the last four stage in the previous five season, Portglenone produced an impressive display in their 11-point win with Stephen Kelly scoring their goal.

The game went ahead after Creggan withdrew their objection over their quarter-final defeat by Lamh Dhearg.

It was alleged that Lamh Dhearg had 16 players on the field during a passage of play in the second half in their 0-15 to 0-13 win.

Portglenone will take on holders Cargin, who beat St Brigid's 1-7 to 0-7 at Dunsilly on Sunday.

In a repeat of last year's semi-final, it was a cagey game with the first score not arriving until the 27th minute.

Paul McCann scored the crucial goal for Cargin in the second half as they reached their third consecutive final.
