KFA replaces Marcote with Nidzam

Nidzam Adzha will take over the reins at Kedah for the second time after the management at Kedah have decided to saddle Ramon Marcote with a new role.

After five matches in the Super League that sees Kedah sitting in 7th place with only two wins and three defeats, coupled with the FA Cup exit at the hands of Pahang; Kedah has now decided to make a change on the coaching staff.

Following changes done at Negeri Sembilan, Johor Darul Ta'zim and Kelantan, Marcote becomes the fourth coaching change in the top tier of Malaysian. That's over 33% changed done in a league that is only two months old.

"After several discussions, Kedah Football Association (KFA) have decided to make a change to the coaching system by appointing Ramon Marcote as the Head Coach of Development for KFA that will oversee the current development as well as the long term planning for the senior team."

"Mohd Nidzam Adzha Yusof will be installed as the head coach of the Kedah side in the Super League.

"This decision is taken on the basis of Ramon's experience and knowledge in sports science and football coaching that will be beneficial to all the players and coaches in Kedah. He will be tasked to look into the coaching structure of all teams under the KFA banner and plan training programs that will develop players for the longer term," said Yusid Madeonus Mohamad Yunus, CEO of KFA.

Having appointed Nidzam to be the head coach last season following the move of Tan Cheng Hoe to the national team set-up, it was a peculiar move to appoint Marcote before the start of the current season. Especially after Nidzam led the team to a credible fourth place finish as well as the Malaysia Cup final.

Cricitism has been thrown the way of Marcote after some insipid performances produced by the Kedah side this season. A home defeat to Perak in just the second match of the Super League got fans starting to question Marcote's ways.

On the plus side for Kedah, the players have worked with Nidzam for a long time now and should not have a big period of adjustment needed. Kedah will be looking to be a force to be reckoned with once again when they host Selangor in the league on April 13.
