Sam Kerr didn’t take long to make an impact in Chicago, scoring her first goal for her new club in their top-of-the-table clash.
The Aussie made an off season move from Sky Blue FC to the Red Stars and in just her second game found the back of the net in a sweet move that caught the North Carolina keeper off guard.
She is the all-time leading goal scorer in the National Women’s Soccer League with 44 now.
Kerr received the ball with a well-timed lob from teammate Alyssa Mautz who ran onto it in the box but wide of the goal.
With a North Carolina defender challenging for the ball Kerr slid it across the face of the goal to hit the inside of the net.
Kerr, and the Red Stars will be hoping for more of the same.
It was not enough to take the full three points though with Chicago drawing the match 1-1.
