Wimbledon organisers delivered an astonishing snub of British player Katie Boulter by scheduling her third-round match on Court 2 – despite her heroics on Centre Court earlier this week.

Boulter scored the win of her career in defeating last year's finalist Karolina Pliskova in the second round, and had been expected to return to either Centre Court or No 1 Court at the All England Club for her next match.

But organisers instead shunted her to Court 2 to face Harmony Tan in the third round, and have opted to prioritise American teenager Coco Gauff's match against compatriot Amanda Anisimova.

Boulter's match will not only have a smaller crowd on Court 2, but it will also be open to the changeable weather forecast as there is no roof to protect from the rain.

The move may baffle some ticket-holders, as Boulter had been a shoe-in to return to the main show court at the grounds after causing such a stir with her win on Thursday.

With only two British players scheduled to play on Saturday, it seemed an obvious choice to put them both on the biggest stages available.

That is what happened on Friday, with Heather Watson chosen to play first on No 1 Court and Cam Norrie closing on Centre later on.

But while Brit Liam Broady will open up No 1 Court proceedings on Saturday as he attempts to upset Boulter's boyfriend Alex de Minaur, there was no room for his compatriot on the Centre Court schedule.

French Open finalist Gauff will be first up instead, ahead of former champion Petra Kvitova's tie against Paula Badosa and finally 22-time major champion Rafael Nadal's match against Lorenzo Sonego.

World No 1 Iga Swiatek will face Alize Cornet second on No 1, before Australia's bad boy Nick Kyrgios and Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas go to battle.
