In the film, Cuoco and Lawmen: Bass Reeves star David Oyelowo portray a couple whose dangerous secrets come to light while they role-play on a night away from their children.
Oyelowo's character, David, ends up getting the surprise of his life when he's taken into police custody and learns that his wife Emma (Cuoco) has been working as an international contract killer for years.
"I just want a normal life, but I have a family to protect," Emma tells her husband.
However, the two are soon forced on the run when Emma's dangerous line of work comes back to haunt her thanks to a ruthless enemy — played by Love Actually's Bill Nighy.
The action thriller also features Wonder Woman's Connie Nielsen in a supporting role.
Cuoco is producing Role Play as well as starring in the movie, with French filmmaker Thomas Vincent on board as director.
Cuoco remains one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood, as her comedy series Based on a True Story was recently renewed for two more seasons.
Last year, the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated actress starred with Pete Davidson in the comedy film Meet Cute and finished the second season of her show The Flight Attendant (which she also executive produced).
The actress also welcomed her daughter Matilda earlier this year with partner Tom Pelphrey. The couple went public with their relationship in May 2022 and announced they were expecting a few months later.
Role Play will be released on Prime Video on January 12, 2024.
