Jurgen Klopp heaped praised on Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah after his side’s win over Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

In stormy conditions, the Reds navigated a tricky all-Premier League affair despite making a raft of changes.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring on the south coast before Justin Kluivert levelled the scores, though a brilliant goal from the increasingly impressive Darwin Nunez teed up a quarter-final meeting with West Ham.

Klopp’s side are battling across a number of front this season and the German has been able to rotate. Quansah is a prime example of that, making his professional debut his boyhood club back in August and starting in both Carabao Cup games thus far.

“That's the other thing which was obvious: that he was really good,” he said.

“In these circumstances, wow. So many difficult balls to judge, to estimate, where is it coming down? He did really well. On the ball, Caoimhin [Kelleher] thought give him the ball quite a lot and let's see what he can do. He did really well there. Yes, top game, absolutely.”
