The Carolina Panthers-New Orleans Saints game Monday will feature at least one prominent reunion. No, we’re not talking about Panthers running back Travaris Cadet playing against his former team. We’re talking about Julius Peppers reuniting with Nelly.

Turns out, Peppers starred in Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” music video back in 2002. He would go on to be drafted by the Panthers later that year.

Peppers’ teammates caught wind of that fun fact in the lead-up to their game against the Saints, where Nelly will perform during halftime. They were pretty shocked by that revelation.

Max Henson of Panthers.com has a rundown of how some of Peppers’ teammates reacted when they found out he was in the video.

Wide receiver Curtis Samuel’s eyes nearly popped out of his head as he watched a clip of Peppers from the video.

“Whoa! No way! Yoooooo!” Samuel screamed. “Stop playing! Man, no way!”

Locker neighbor Torrey Smith then chimed in.

“That’s young Pep!?” Smith shouted. “Man, that’s one of the best music videos of all time!”

Peppers isn’t the only athlete to be featured in the video. A young Carmelo Anthony and T.J. Duckett also made appearances.

You can look for all of them by watching the “Hot in Herre” video. Be warned, however, that while there’s no nudity in the video, it’s probably not a thing you should watch while at work. Still want to check it out? Here you go.

The 38-year-old Peppers did pretty well for himself after that video. He was selected by the Panthers No. 2 overall in the 2002 NFL draft, and has played 17 years in the NFL.

Yes, “Hot in Herre” is that old now. If you remember growing up watching the video, that means you’re old now, too. For those of you too young to remember the video, we’re not going to explain music videos to you, but they used to be a much bigger thing.

Unfortunately, a repeat performance might not be possible. Peppers might be a little busy when Nelly performs the halftime show Monday. Peppers could still get a shoutout from Nelly, though.
