Jorge Masvidal turns down $5M offer to box Jake Paul: 'Chump change'

Jake Paul is looking for his next opponent after beating Tyron Woodley for a second time, and it seems he'd love a shot at another UFC fighter.

During an appearance on his brother's "Impaulsive with Logan Paul" podcast, the YouTuber attempting to carve out a boxing career indicated he would look to fight either Nate Diaz or Jorge Masvidal, who were both in attendance for his knockout of Woodley last weekend.

He specifically honed in on Masvidal, who remains under contract with the UFC, offering the fan favorite welterweight $5 million guaranteed if he enters the ring:

"I want to fight both of [Diaz and Masvidal], for sure. It would be the biggest money fight for either one of them, and Masvidal's like 'I either fight the best people or I fight for money, and you're neither one of those. You ain't paying the right amount of money.

"Masvidal, I got an offer for you right now. Five million guarantee, plus percentage of pay-per-views, so that's the most you would have ever made as a fighter. Ever. So now you can't say 'I either fight the best people or I fight for money.' Five million dollar guarantee, plus pay-per-view. Let's make it happen. That's the most you would have ever have gotten paid. Period. Times Triple.

"Daddy Dana [White] just has to let you out of your contract. You work for the UFC, you're a b****.

Paul is likely correct that $5 million would be well above anything Masvidal has ever received for a fight. He reportedly received $800,000 for his most recent right, a welterweight championship loss to Kamaru Usman. Of course, the question isn't how much Masvidal would want, but what would be needed for the UFC to let one of its most popular fighters out of his contract.

It took very little time for Masvidal to respond the callout, shooting down the $5 million offer as "chump change," and counter-offering to fight for $20 million.

In a follow-up tweet, Masvidal offered to fight Paul if he signs a one-fight deal with the UFC with the stipulation they can only box in the Octagon. Masvidal even offered to forfeit his purse to Paul should he do something other than boxing.

It's hard to see Paul taking that offer, especially because he himself is under contract with Showtime Boxing. So don't expect the former friends turned social media combatants to face off anytime soon.

As for other potential Paul opponents, the promoter of Tommy Fury, Paul's originally planned opponent until he pulled out due to injury, has said he'll look to schedule a fight for early 2022.
