There may be more Dune in Jason Momoa's future, as the actor has teased a potential return to Arrakis for Dune 3 – should it go ahead.

The Game of Thrones and Aquaman star has been talking about a possible comeback for his character Duncan Idaho, introduced in 2021's Dune.

In Denis Villeneuve's recently-released sequel Dune: Part Two, Duncan is notably absent as the swordmaster sacrificed himself in the first film to save protagonist Paul Atreides and his mother, Lady Jessica.

Quizzed about a surprise return for his character, who gets revived in Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah (the rumoured inspiration for a third movie), Momoa hinted at an "epic" moment intended for the first film that didn't make the final cut.

"It'll be a good future now if Duncan Idaho may have some sort of... You know what we did have? Oh man, I can't actually say this. I'll get in trouble. F**k," he told Men's Health.

"Well, there was something that was really cool that went into the movie that didn't make the first one, and it was pretty epic."

Momoa promised he'll try to bring this mysterious sequence to fans should he ever return to the Duniverse for a third film.

"I'll try to get it back. I'll try to get it back in the third one," he said.

At the moment, a threequel hasn't been officially greenlit, though Villeneuve teased production is in very early stages in a chat with Digital Spy.

"We are in early stages. We are in the right direction," the filmmaker said. "There's a lot of work that has been done, but there's a lot of work that needs to be done in order to have something solid to shoot."
