J.T. Realmuto injury update: Marlins activate catcher from 10-day DL

Realmuto began the season on the DL with a bone bruise in his back.

The Marlins will gain a welcome addition to their lineup Tuesday against the Yankees after announcing catcher J.T. Realmuto has been activated from the 10-day disabled.

Realmuto began the season on the DL with a bone bruise in his back. He is one of the few stars from last season to remain on the roster following Miami's offseason of change.

Currently 4-12 and last in the National League East, the Marlins need all the offensive help they can get with Justin Bour and Starlin Castro currently serving as the only consistent offensive weapons.

Realmuto, 27, slashed .278/.332/.451 last season with 17 home runs, 65 RBIs and eight stolen bases. The Marlins currently rank 25th in MLB in runs scored and 26th in team average at .226.
