Indian Super League (ISL) club Jamshedpur FC have signed goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury, Goal can confirm. The Tata Steel-owned club have also extended the contract of midfielder Mehtab Hossain.
Roy Chowdhury will team up with veteran goalkeeper Subrata Paul as the Men of Steel look to back up their defensive options. The 31-year-old Indian custodian spent the 2017-18 season of ISL with Kerala Blasters, registering seven appearances during the league stage.
He regularly swapped first-team responsibilities with former Manchester United academy graduate Paul Rachubka at the club and will now look to act as an alternate option to Subrata Paul who impressed for Jamshedpur in their debut season in ISL under Steve Coppell.
Subhasish has won the ISL with ATK in 2014 and has played for Delhi Dynamos and FC Goa before joining Blasters in 2017 through the India player draft. He was capped twice at the senior level for the Indian National team.
Mehtab Hossain's contract extension will come as a huge boost for Jamshedpur who finished their inaugural ISL campaign in the fifth position, just four points away from the last play-off spot. The tough-tackling Indian midfielder was an integral part of Steve Coppell's plans at the club but suffered from injuries at crucial junctures throughout the season.
