Inter Milan name Inzaghi as new coach

Serie A champions Inter Milan have named Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi as their new coach to replace departed title-winner Antonio Conte.

Inzaghi, 45, has signed a two-year contract with Milan, the club said on Thursday, having elected to leave the Rome club.

That's despite Inzaghi being offered an extension in the capital, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport daily.

Lazio said it respected the decision of Inzaghi, who had also played for the team before becoming coach.

Inter won their first Serie A title in a decade this season to end Juventus' run of nine consecutive championships.

But Conte, 51, disagreed with owners on the future of the club - namely the need to plug financial gaps with player sales - and recently left despite having a contract to 2022.
