India U16 team hold Fundacion Valencia to a goalless draw

The Blue colts have been handed a testing group in the U16 continental championship slated to be held later this year...

The India U16 team scripted a positive result on Tuesday when they held Fundacion Valencia to a goalless draw in Spain.

Head coach Bibiano Fernandes' boys are in Spain as part of an exposure tour before the AFC U16 Championships later this year.

Fundacion Valencia CF, who are currently fourth in the U16 LaLiga, started with a flurry of attacks amid pouring rain but the Indian colts did well to thwart them.

The Valencia CF Foundation's youth side were threatened in the 18th minute when Bekey Oram's shot flashed wide from an encouraging position. Gurkeerat also had a chance before half-time but no goals were forthcoming for either side.

The Indian colts gave a good account of themselves in the second half, showing enterprise in attack and defending valiantly, as they kept the home team in check and got themselves a morale-boosting result.
