America left stunned after veteran superstar bashes teenager

Capitals star Alex Ovechkin has delivered an absolutely devastating knockout punch to Hurricanes’ rookie Andrei Svechnikov during the first round of the NHL playoffs on Monday.

The 19-year-old rookie dropped gloves with the Russian but was soon lying flat on his back when Ovechkin delivered three right jabs to knock him clean out.

Svechnikov needed the help of the trainer to get off the ice and into the dressing room after the fight.

Hardman Ovechkin hadn’t been involved in a fight since 2010, but was quick to throw down with the rookie who had previously stated he looked up to the Russian.

Washington held a 2-0 series lead.
