Hawks give AFL star Rioli family time

Hawthorn star Cyril Rioli has been granted personal leave by the AFL club after asking for time off to return to Darwin to be with his family.

The 29-year-old four-time premiership player has not played since round four due to a knee injury and was given extended time off in the pre-season as the champion forward helped his father convalesce from heart surgery.

"Physically, Cyril is in great condition, and potentially could have played for us in the coming weeks. However, we acknowledge his desire to be with family," Hawks GM Football, Graham Wright, said in a statement.
