Wrexham are off to the west coast of America, while Cardiff City and Newport County both head to England’s West Country and Swansea City will travel to Austria.

The pre-season destinations may vary, but the aim for all four of Wales’ EFL clubs will be the same - to make ideal preparations for the 2024-25 season.

Players have reported for duty and training has resumed as the countdown to the start of the new EFL campaign, which begins on 10 August, continues.

Wrexham are heading back to the States having been there last year before their League Two promotion-winning season.

As they ready themselves for life in the third tier of English football for the first time since 2005, Phil Parkinson’s side will have stellar friendlies against Premier League opposition in the shape of Bournemouth and Chelsea, as well as MLS outfit Vancouver in Canada.

They start, though, in the more humble surroundings of Northern Premier League Division One side Hanley Town, although they will do so without striker Paul Mullin, who is recovering from surgery.

Elsewhere, there are games with German, Belgian and Cymru Premier opposition for Erol Bulut’s Cardiff.

Swansea’s preparations for a first full season under Luke Williams include a game against Bundesliga 2 side FC Koln in Austria, with further fixtures set to be confirmed.

League Two Newport begin life after Graham Coughlan with a string of local games, starting with the traditional fixture at Undy.

Here BBC Sport Wales runs through the full list of pre-season fixtures.
