Gor Mahia appoint new captain ahead of season kick-off

Gor Mahia has appointed Haron Shakava and Boniface Oluoch as the new captain and assistant captain respectively.

The position was left vacant following the departure of long serving skipper Musa Mohammed. Head coach Dylan Kerr is confident the center back will become even a better player this season.

“Shakava will be my new leader on the pitch, I usually prefer a center back to captain my team and he is the best candidate for the same. As a matter of fact, the extra responsibility will make him mature and his game will improve.

“I wanted to give Tuyisenge the assistant captain role but he said he wanted to concentrate on his game, so we settled on Oluoch, who is an experienced player as well, with perfect leadership qualities,” Kerr told Goal on Monday.

Shakava will be aiming at helping the team defend the league crown as well perform better in Caf Champions League.
