Why the golfing world is losing it over this Tiger Woods image

An image of Tiger Woods arriving for practice at golf’s ‘fifth major’ has sent fans into a frenzy on social media.

Woods’ participation in The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass was thrown into question when he pulled out of the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week due to a neck strain.

However, the 14-time major winner declared “everything is good” as he arrived for a practice hit-out at the iconic Sawgrass course in Florida.

It wasn’t just Woods’ arrival at the course that turned heads so much as how he showed up.

It was quintessential Tiger.

Backwards hat, dark shades, no collar. The 14-time major champ was dripping swag and fans can’t get enough of it.

There were concerns when Woods decided not to risk playing at Bay Hill last week as a result of an injury that had been troubling him “for a few weeks”.

“Everything is good,” the 14-time major champion told Golfweek on Monday. “I feel good. I needed last week off.

“I didn’t want to push it. No need to. Not at my age. Can’t do that anymore.”

Woods said he had been hampered by the issue at the WGC-Mexico Championship, where he finished in a share of 10th last month.

The former world number one added: “I could feel it [in Mexico]. It wasn’t fun. I couldn’t make a backswing. I couldn’t make a follow through. I couldn’t make a complete swing.”

Woods’ potential involvement in golf’s ‘fifth major’ has fans excited and for good reason.

The 14-time major champion won the title in 2001, with his famous 60-foot putt on the iconic island-green 17th hole, becoming the stuff of legend.
