Miracle finish sees golfer claim maiden title

American golfer Ethan Tracy produced one of the most remarkable finishes imaginable to claim the first title of his professional career.

The 27-year-old lined up his third shot on the final hole of regulation at Bogota Country Club needing an eagle just to grab a share of the lead in the Club Colombia Championship.

What happened next is something Tracy will never forget, and perhaps never be able to replicate, as he holed out the 100-yard approach shot at the par-five 18th to force a playoff with Mexico's Roberto Diaz.

"I was trying to make it," Tracy said after the tournament.

"I knew 13 (under) was the number. I was going to get it all the way back to that pin and if it went over so be it. I had to give it a chance."

Tracy, who played the closing hole 5-under for the tournament, then took his incredible momentum into the playoff with Diaz.

Both made par the first time around, but Tracy was able to sink a lengthy birdie putt on the second playoff hole to seal the win in just his fourth Web.com Tour start.

For the native Ohioan, this most unlikely of wins will potentially see him score a ticket on the PGA Tour.

Considering Tracy missed the cut in the first two events of the season in the Bahamas, it represents quite a turnaround for the 27-year-old.

"I know I'm playing well and putted well this week," Tracy said after the victory.

"I just went home in the off-week and worked hard, and it shows that my hard work is paying off."
