Danny Willett's hilariously honest Ryder Cup summation

Danny Willett's hilariously honest Ryder Cup summation

British golfer Danny Willett didn't have the best time at his maiden Ryder Cup, and he summed it up in one brutally honest word.

In a post-tournament press conference, the Masters champion was asked to describe his first experience of the prestigious Ryder Cup.

"S***", he said, sparking laughter from his fellow Team Europe stars, as well as from the press.

Willett endured a tumultous week at Hazeltine, with not much success on the course compounded by controversy caused by his brother off it.

Peter Willett described American fans as a "baying mob of imbeciles", "cretins" and "dim Yanks" just days before the USA's 17-11 victory.

Danny originally conceded it was "a bad article written at a bad time", but after being on the receiving end of numerous taunts and heckles during play, he appears to have sided with his brother.

Posting on Twitter, Danny expressed his frustration with the fans:

He was left out of the European team in the Friday morning foursomes and was beaten 5&4 by Brooks Koepka in Sunday's singles.

He was also beaten in the Friday fourballs by Koepka and Brandt Snedeker and lost by one hole to JB Holmes and Ryan Moore in Saturday's fourballs.
