Wayward drive lands on top of man’s backpack

Brooks Koepka hit one of the most astonishing tee shots ever seen at the Ryder Cup, after his ball landed on top of a spectator’s backpack.

The big-hitting Team USA star took on the 314-yard fifth hole at Hazeltine, but his wayward tee shot bounced off the fringe next to the green and disappeared.

After a moment of confusion it became apparent that the ball had landed on top of the backpack being worn by Europe player Thomas Pieters’s father.

“Just when you thought you’d seen it all at the Ryder Cup,” the commentator exclaimed as the slo-motion replay showed the ball bounce off the grass and lodge between bag and back.

There was no harm done, no foul, and the bizarre incident clearly didn’t affect Pieters because he drove the green and nailed an eagle to claim the hole for his team.
