McIlroy gives oblivious spectators the fright of their lives

During a practice round for the US Open, Rory McIlroy decided he couldn't wait any longer for a group of spectators to get off the fairway.

As you can see in the video above, McIlroy was lining up for his tee shot when a large group of punters continued to file across the fairway, directly in the path of his potential shot.

Egged on by fans behind him, the Irish superstar decided he'd wake them up by smashing his ball straight at them.

When you're one of the world's best golfers you can afford to take chances like this, with McIlroy blasting a brilliant shot straight over their heads.

Needless to say the spectators probably took a bit more care for the rest of the round.
