In fact, the Chivas Guadalajara keeper's audacious long-range goal is one that few footballs fans will forget in a hurry.

With his side up 2-1 against Veracruz in Mexico's Liga MX, Rodriguez's opposite number Sebastián Jurado threw himself up front in a desperate attempt at a late equaliser.

However, the Veracruz goalie was left stranded when the corner was plucked out of the air by Rodriguez - leaving an unattended goal at the other end of the pitch.

Mind you, the unguarded goal was still a good 90 metres up the other end of the field but it made no difference to the Chivas keeper.

Rodriguez sized up the situation, took a short run-up and launched a towering goal kick over the heads of several Veracruz players, left to make a mad dash back to protect their goal.

Agonisingly for them though, the massive punt landed just in front of the last defender, bouncing three times before nestling in the unguarded net.

Unsurprisingly, the stunning strike had commentators and fans in a state of awe.

The incredible moment represented the first goal of the 27-year-old keeper's professional career.

Rodriguez's strike put the icing on the cake of the 3-1 win that saw Chivas jump to 10th on the Liga MX table.
