Glasgow City 1-0 Celtic: Fiona Brown goal after 16 seconds secures win for holders

Fiona Brown's cross-come-shot after just 16 seconds was enough for Glasgow City to secure victory over Celtic in the Scottish Women's Premier League.

The third-placed reigning champions move to within two points of Celtic but remain eight points off the top after Rangers' 2-1 win away to Aberdeen.

The visitors, looking to recover from their Sky Sports Cup semi-final defeat by Rangers, rarely troubled City goalkeeper Lee Gibson in Elena Sadiku's second game as team boss.

And it was City winger Lauren Davidson who went closest to adding to the scoreline with a late low drive that squirmed under Daugherty's body and wide.

Linda Motlhalo had been handed a start by City in what will be the South Africa midfielder's final game before completing her transfer to Racing Louisville in the United States' top flight.

Striker Natasha Flint was making her Celtic return on loan from Liverpool, but it was City's recent returnee from Rosengard, Scotland forward Brown, who was to provide the decisive touch.

Her cross from the by-line in City's first attack looped over Celtic goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty and into the far corner and was enough to secure the win over her former club.
