Arsenal have completed the £45m signing of Gabriel Jesus.

The Manchester City striker has signed five-year deal in north London, becoming Mikel Arteta’s fourth addition this summer following the arrivals of Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.

Jesus had entered the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and was Arsenal’s leading target this summer following the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette over the past two windows.

Handed the No.9 shirt previously worn by Lacazette, the 25-year-old will compete with Eddie Nketiah for a starting berth through the middle of the attack, though is capable of operating in a wider position too.

The striker, capped 56 times by Brazil, moved to City as a teenager from Palmeiras in January 2017 and won four Premier League titles during a trophy-laden five-and-a-half-year stint in Manchester, also including three League Cups and an FA Cup triumph.
