'Saddened and shocked': Much-loved cricketer found dead at 57

Former India batsman and much-loved commentator VB Chandrasekhar has died at the age of 57 on Thursday.

The opener played for Tamil Nadu and strong performances in the state’s second title saw him earn a place in the Indian ODI squad.

Chandrasekhar played seven times for India and achieved a half-century in a game against New Zealand.

The opener enjoyed a first-class average of 43.09 and was part of the national selection panel from 2004-2006 after his retirement.

More recently, Chandrasekhar was the cricket manager of the Twenty20 franchise Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

He was also praised for his sharp wit as a cricket commentator.
