Welcome to the jungle.
I'm collecting my coloured modelling clay to make something cool.
So far I've collected purple, green, orange and yellow.
I'm still looking for red and blue.
Would you like to come and help me look?
Great! Then let's get going.
(SINGS) # Hello, hello, hello, everyone # A handshake and a wave to you # I'm glad that you could come # Hello, hello # So good to see you # Around the world, some boys and girls would like to greet you too # In France, they dance and say # Bonjour! # In Hindi, it's # Namaste! # In Germany, we say # Guten Tag! # And the Aussies say # G'day, mate! # Hello, hello # You're here It's good to know # Old friends to meet, new ones we greet # Hello, hello, hello! # There.
I need the red and blue modelling clay.
I know I had it here somewhere.
You haven't seen my red and blue modelling clay, have you?
I believe you let the elephants play with it last week.
Tembo's got it.
Let me call him.
(TRUMPETS) Tembo! Can I have my red and blue modelling clay, please?
(ELEPHANT TRUMPETS) Good throw.
That's the red.
What about the blue?
(TRUMPETS) Thanks, Tembo.
(TRUMPETS) (TRUMPETS) Now I've got all my modelling clay, I can finish my colourful sculpture.
(SQUEAKS) Hey, Jay.
Ooh! Did you make that yourself?
I sure did.
What do you think?
It's colourful! Oh, but what is it?
I'll give you a clue.
It's something you see out the window.
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh! Is it a tree?
It's something you find in the sky.
a cloud! Yes.
A colourful cloud.
Full of colourful rain.
Wow! That's really cool, Jay.
It looks more like a rainbow.
I believe there's a question about rainbows out there right now.
Let's see it.
SONG: # Shi-i-i-ine # Shine, shi-i-ine # My name is C-MOR # I light up the sky # Do you have a question?
# As the clouds float by # I'll shine my # Light for you-ou.
# Looking here.
There you are! I wonder where rainbows come from.
Shine! # Shine.
# That's an interesting question.
What do you think, Funk-E?
Rainbows appear when it rains.
And rainbows are big, colourful footpaths that unicorns use to ride down from the clouds.
What was that?
Rainbows are big, colourful footpaths.
And who uses them?
Ooh-ooh-ooh! Unicorns do.
You know, the horse with a horn on its head?
Yes, Funk-E, I do know what a unicorn is.
Well, that's how they ride down from the clouds.
(SQUEAKS) Everybody knows that.
Well, Funk-E, a rainbow is formed when sunlight passes through rain.
But sunlight's not colourful.
It can be.
Light looks white but the truth is, it's full of colour.
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh! So somebody paints light to make the rainbow! No.
Just like you painted C-MOR all those different colours, somebody must paint rainbows.
(CHUCKLES) Bec to Lighthouse.
Are you there, Jay?
Um, you know how the colour in rainbows is painted on?
(SQUEAKS) How do they get the paint to stay in the air like that?
Funk-E thinks the rainbow is coloured with paint.
That makes sense, Funk-E, but a rainbow isn't made from paint.
It's made from crayons?
To make a rainbow, you need two things - rain and sunlight.
Ooh-ooh-ooh, is that all?
I'm going to tell Jess-E and Leonard.
Ooh-ooh-ooh! Bye! My weather sensors are telling me that this afternoon we'll have sunshowers, an unusual combination of sunlight and rain.
So if we've got sunlight and rain.
Then we should get a rainbow.
A rainbow is very likely.
I haven't seen a good rainbow in a while.
Why don't I come down and we'll check it out together?
See you soon! Bye.
So, I'm going down to the jungle to meet Bec and hopefully we'll see a rainbow.
Time to jungle jump.
One, two, three, jump! # Jump, jump, jump, jump, jump # Jump, jump, jump, jump, jump KIDS: Jump! # I'm jumping Jump, jump! # We're jumping Jump, jump! # Jungle jumping around Jump! # I'm jumping Jump, jump! # We're jumping # Jungle jumping around.
# Come on, now.
Jump! Jump! Jump! # A little higher.
# Jump! Here we go now.
Jess-E! Whoa-ho! Whoa! Wow.
(LAUGHS) There are so many colours in your wig, Jess-E.
I think this will look really cool on stage under all the coloured lights.
Oh, whoo! Ooh.
What's your name?
(LAUGHS) Funk-E, it's me, Jess-E.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, cool.
I didn't recognise you with your colourful wig on.
What do you think?
I love it.
That will look really good on stage when we're performing.
Hey, Funk-E, what's your favourite colour?
I like blue because the sky is blue.
Oh, what about you, Leonard?
What's your favourite colour?
I like green because trees are green and I like climbing trees.
What about you, Jess-E?
Ooh! I like yellow.
Ooh! Because bananas are yellow.
And bananas are delicious! (SQUEAKS) They are! And did you know that blue, green and yellow are some of the colours you can see in a rainbow?
Yeah! Where do rainbows come from?
Well, you usually see rainbows when it rains, right?
So what else do you see when it rains?
I don't know! Umbrellas! Huh?
See, rainbows are just big, colourful umbrellas, so when it rains, all the animals can stand underneath and stay dry.
I think Leonard's right.
I'm not so sure.
(RAIN FALLS) Hey, listen.
It's started raining.
Ah! Which means there might be a rainbow.
Let's go find it! Yeah! Hang on.
Let's do some practice first.
And then we can go.
# Bom-di-bom-di bom-di-bom-di ba-da da-da da-da # Bom-di-bom-di bom-di-bom-di # Ba-da da-da da-da # Hey-ho Come and see We're coming! I'm coming! # We're working together so happily I'm so happy! # Hey-ho # We've gotta think I'm thinking.
# We'll solve the problem, find the missing link Ooh-ah, ooh-ooh-ah! # When three work as one # We'll get the job done, get the job done # Get the job done, get the job done # Get the job done, get the job done # Bom-di-bom-di bom-di-bom-di ba-da da-da da-da # Bom-di-bom-di bom-di-bom-di ba-da da-da da-da # Hey-ho What do you know?
Ooh-ah-ah, ooh-ah-ah! # With three heads together, we can have a go Do I need my lunchbox?
# Hey-ho # What do you say?
Uh, I say, "What's for lunch?
" # If we use imagination we'll be on our way Imagine if we could fly.
# When three work as one # We'll get the job done, get the job done # Get the job done, get the job done # Get the job done, so much fun # Bom-di-bom-di bom-di-bom-di ba-da da-da # Bom-di-bom-di bom-di-bom-di # Ba-da da-da # When three work as one # We'll get the job done Get the job done # Get the job done, get the job done # Get the job done, so much fun! # (SQUEAKS) # Look and you'll See I'm cool.
# (LAUGHS) Dancing is great! # One, two, three # Come along with me # A, B, C # I can talk to the trees # And the plants and the earth # So, let's see what we can find # We're looking up, we're looking down # Spinning on our heels and looking around # Over here, can you see, there's something for you and me?
# I'm Ranger Bec, come along with me # Today, on our journey of discovery # Can you hear that?
# What's that sound?
# Look over there! # Look what I found # We use our ears and our eyes # There's always a big surprise # One, two, three # Come along with me # A, B, C # I can talk to the trees # And the plants and the earth # So, let's see what we can find today # Let's see what we can find.
# (HUMS) Mmm.
Oh! What a beautiful rainbow! (WHOOSH!) Hi, Bec.
Take a look! Wow! It's like a big, colourful bridge.
(LAUGHS) I think rainbows bring good luck.
Well, that's a big rainbow, so that's a whole lot of luck.
(SQUEAKS) Ooh! Did I miss the rainbow?
I came straight from practice.
I really want to see it.
Take a look, Funk-E.
Oh! A rainbow! It's still here! Isn't it awesome?
Look at all the colours.
How many are there?
There are seven colours that you can find in the rainbow.
Ooh, I can see, um.
red and green and blue.
I can't make out all the other colours.
Well, that's alright, Funk-E.
I can show a close-up of that rainbow on the Mini Chitter Chatter.
Now, what colours can you see now?
Red and orange and yellow and green and blue and, um.
Those are the tricky ones.
Dark blue and purple?
Close, Funk-E, but those two are called indigo and violet.
So, from the top, Funk-E, what are the colours, again?
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and.
violet! Well done, Funk-E! Spot-on! Yay! But I still don't understand how rainbows work.
How do the colours stay in the sky?
The light from the sun shines on the raindrops and then the raindrops reflect the colours.
That's why they're called rainBOWS.
And water and light can play funny things.
Take a look at this.
See the straw?
It's a normal straw.
Is it bent?
It's perfectly straight.
(SQUEAKS) It's bent and broken.
It's fixed! Ooh! (GASPS) It's bent and broken again.
It's not actually bent or broken, Funk-E.
It's just the water that makes it look like that.
Ooh! Your face looks all funny! (LAUGHS) Back to normal.
Water can make straws look broken and bendy.
And give us funny faces.
(LAUGHS) And water can turn sunlight into colourful rainbows.
(LAUGHS) # What to do?
What to do?
# With your help we'll think it through # We'll make a plan and work it out # 'Cause that's what teamwork's all about (MOUTHS) Wow! # Build a tower to the sky # Fold some paper # Play I-spy # A cardboard box # Some rubber bands # It's great to make things with our hands # Close your eyes, you'll realise # The things that you can do # Nothing is impossible # If we think it # Then it will come true # Think of other useful things # Like sticks and leaves and bits of string # Something new # Something old # If we work together, it will be solved # What to do?
What to do?
# With your help we'll think it through # We'll make a plan and work it out # 'Cause that's what teamwork's all about.
# Oh, no! The rainbow has disappeared.
Why don't we make our own rainbows?
Oh! Awesome! I bet if we got out all the crayons, we could draw a pretty cool rainbow too.
And if we got your colourful modelling clay out, we could make some rainbow models! Looks like we've got a lot of rainbows to make.
You know who else would like to make rainbows with us?
Are you ready?
It's up to you.
Jungle Crew! # Jungle Crew, Jungle Crew # We're all in the Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew, Jungle Crew # We're all in the Jungle Crew.
# I can explore.
I can roar.
(ROARS) That's good.
# What else can you do?
# I can wiggle.
I can walk.
(PANTING) I can run.
ALL: # We need you # In the Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew, Jungle Crew # We're all in the Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew, Jungle Crew # We're all in the Jungle Crew.
# I can read.
I can snorkel.
I can climb.
# What else can you do?
# I can, "Coo-ee!" We can rumble.
# We need you in the Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew, Jungle Crew # We're all in the Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew, Jungle Crew # We're all in the Jungle Crew.
# I can sing, "La, la, la, la.
" I can yell! I can tap.
# What else can you do?
# I can hop! I can shake! I can laugh.
(LAUGHS) # We need you in the Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew, Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew # We're all in the Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew # Jungle Crew, Jungle Crew # We're all in the Jungle Crew! # It looks like the Jungle Crew are going to do an experiment.
But hang on a minute! Water isn't that colour! That is red.
And that's yellow.
And here comes some pink.
I think this is magic rainbow water.
What colour do you think will come out next?
It's blue! Purple - or violet.
And there's one colour of the rainbow missing.
Which do you think it is?
The Jungle Crew sure do know their rainbow colours.
This looks like fun! Oozy paint.
I love painting.
(LAUGHS) Do you know what they're painting?
It's a rainbow.
Have you ever painted a rainbow?
Look at that picture.
ALL: Colourful rainbows.
They sure are.
Good job, Jungle Crew! Now the Jungle Crew have some plasticine.
They're rolling, rolling, rolling it out.
There sure are lots of colours.
Some green, orange and red.
Ha-ha! They've made some roly-poly rainbows.
ALL: Pretty rainbows! (DRUMMING AND CLAPPING) Everybody shout.
KIDS: Hey! Hey! Sing and have some fun.
# La, la, la, la, la, la, la It's time to celebrate.
Yay! Yay! And look at what we've done.
# We made it, we made it We thought it through and made it # With teamwork, we got it done # There were lots of things to do, but we made it, thanks to you # And together, we had some fun # Don't you know, we built it, we played it # We painted and displayed it # We learnt a lot with friends # If we try, you will see that with help, you will succeed # And together, we'll have some fun # We made it, we made it We thought it through and made it # With teamwork, we got it done # There were lots of things to do, but we made it, thanks to you # And together, we had some fun # Build it high # Right up to the sky # Build it low Take it very slow # Lend a hand The work is almost done # And together, we'll have some fun # Build it high # Right up to the sky # Build it low Take it very slow # Lend a hand The work is almost done # And together, we'll have some fun # We made it, we made it We thought it through and made it # With teamwork, we got it done # There were lots of things to do, but we made it, thanks to you # And together, we had some # And together, we had some # And together, we had some fun.
# ALL: Yay! ALL: Yay! We certainly discovered some interesting things today.
And the Jungle Crew were very busy.
But you can some fun at home like the Jungle Crew.
What sort of things could you do?
(LAUGHS) That could be fun.
It's time to head back home to the lighthouse now.
(STRUMS UKULELE) Ooh-ooh-ooh! Hi, C-MOR.
He's right behind me.
(GROANS) I'm back, C-MOR.
Welcome back, Jay.
Thanks! It certainly has been a busy day.
It was much more than that.
It was an ultra-super-mega-excellent day! Ooh-ooh-ooh! You said it, Funk-E.
What made this day so interesting?
It began with the message we received this morning.
I wonder where rainbows come from.
Funk-E was also keen to find out more about rainbows and how they appeared.
Leonard thought rainbows were giant umbrellas because umbrellas and rainbows come out when it rains.
Yes, that's a good thought.
But rainbows are not actually solid.
They're made from light.
We discovered that light and water make rainbows appear.
The light passes through the water, or raindrops, and fractures, or splits, causing lots of different colours to appear.
And Bec showed us how light and water can do lots of interesting things, like bend straws and make your face all funny.
(LAUGHS) But the best thing light and water do together is make rainbows.
Yes, and so do the Jungle Crew.
They used all the colours of the rainbow - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet and some pink - to make beautiful rainbows.
You know, there's lots to explore here on our island.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
I know! More fun.
More fun! More fun! More fun! We want more fun! OK, Funk-E.
Let's make a promise.
BOTH: We promise to have more fun tomorrow! Until then, bye from Jay's Jungle.
Bye! Bye! # Sun sets over the jungle now # Birds fly to the highest boughs # Time to put the drums away # All is quiet # It's been a busy day # Jungle Crew, head home to rest # We know that we've done our best # Everybody safe and sound # Homeward bound # As the sun goes down # C-MOR shines his beacon light # Right on through the dark of night # He'll see what tomorrow brings # Each day, new things # Your thoughts and dreams # Goodbye, goodbye # It's time for us to fly # We've all had a fantastic day # We'll see you soon # Let's smile and wave goodbye # Tomorrow is just on its way # See you soon, Funk-E.
# Leonard and Jess-E.
# LEONARD AND JESS-E: Goodbye! # Take care, C-MOR.
# And Bec.
# BEC: Goodbye! # Goodbye, goodbye # It's time for us to fly # We've all had a fantastic day # We'll see you soon # Let's smile and wave goodbye # Tomorrow is just on its way # Goodbye, goodbye # Goodbye! # Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye.
