Brazil FA will not apologise to Tartan Army

The Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) have told Scotland's major supporters group, The Tartan Army, that they will not apologise following accusations made by a Brazilian player last week.

Sunday's friendly at Emirates Stadium between the two nations was an incident-free event besides just one occurrence of a banana being thrown onto the pitch at the feet of young gun Neymar in a supposed racist signal.

The 19-year old whizkid, who scored twice in the 2-0 win, claimed that the Scottish fans were racist towards him with the gesture but it was later found to actually be a teenage German tourist who was the culprit.

The Tartan Army asked for Neymar to say sorry, asking the Scottish Football Association to send a letter to their samba counterparts, after he sullied their name but Brazil's Confederation have come out and said they won't apologise.

"I don't know if the SFA has sent us a letter or not but we are not going to apologise to them. We don't have to do it. Have we said 'We're sorry' on our website? No - and we are not going to say it," said CBF spokesman Rodrigo Paiva.

"We have nothing at all to do with this problem. So we do not have to apologise to them.

"Neymar has nothing to apologise for either. He talked about racism, not about Scottish people. He condemned racism as we all do."
