Football star complains about his $50,000-a-week salary

Cry me a river.

That was the response from the Twittersphere yesterday after an English soccer player had the nerve to complain about his $50,000-a-week salary.

In the ultimate example of first-world problems, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jamie O’Hara took to Twitter to complain that his life was easier when he earnt a fraction of his current salary, believed to be around £35,000 ($53,892) a week.

"Things were so much easier when I earned 100pound a week on wts #stress," the 26-year-old tweeted to his 175,000 followers.

After copping a raft of abuse, O'Hara stuck by his initial post.

"Why do people think cos I earn good money I don't have bills to pay we all pay tax an (sic) we have mortgages to pay, some people are deluded," he tweeted.

"I wonder how many people are doing hospital visits this Xmas or giving clothing to the homeless this winter, or setting up a charity to raise money for hospitals (so they) can buy equipment that save people lives, u can talk on here but what are YOU doing.

"I'm not saying I'm not privileged I'm so lucky to have what I've got but trust me when I was 17 on wts it was a lot more easier."

He added his detractors were "jealous", saying "there's too many arseholes on twitter".

Clearly life is tough for Jamie, but he can always turn to his wife if things gets too difficult for him.
