NZ international Brockie keen to better Del Piero and Heskey

Wellington Phoenix attacker Jeremy Brockie is planning to stay close to the likes of Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey on the A-League goalscoring charts.

The New Zealand international netted his sixth goal of the campaign in the 1-0 home win over Western Sydney Wanderers on the weekend and prior to the match, said he was simply keen to be placed anywhere the aforementioned duo.

"If I can keep scoring and moving up the leaderboard with the likes of them I'll be very happy," Brockie said.

"Last season I set myself a target of 10 which I fell one short of and this year I was looking to build on what I got last year and set myself a goal of 12 for the season.

"So If I can get to there, hopefully that means the club will probably be doing quite well as well."

Brockie sits outright second on the A-League scorers list, one behind Central Coast Mariners forward Daniel McBreen, and one ahead of Del Piero and Heskey.

He has netted all six goals in his past five outings including braces against former club Newcastle Jets and in the 3-2 loss to Melbourne Victory in early November.
