David Beckham linked with move to A-League

The A-League may be set to get its biggest ever recruit, with rumours former Manchester United and England star David Beckham will join an Australian side.

The 37-year-old, who has been plying his trade with MLS team LA Galaxy since 2007, will be out of contract from December 31, and News Limited reports he could be jetting Down Under.

According to The Australian, tentative moves have been made with Beckham's management but no deal has been done yet.

Reports suggest the star midfielder would play a 10-game stint with several clubs in the hunt. The deal would still have to be ratified by the FFA and its new chief David Gallop.

Beckham has said that he won't be making any decisions on his future until Galaxy's season ends. The club is currently in finals and are likely to make the season finale on December 1.

"Who knows? I'm going to enjoy being in the play-offs... and then we'll see how this body feels," Beckham was quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.

"Even when I stop playing, I'll have a hunger to do something better and be the best."

If true, it would be massive news for the A-League, with recent mega star recruits Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey lighting it up in the domestic competition.
